Why it costs less

Our prices are lower. It’s not the windows.

Same windows. Same professional installation. The difference is one line item you were never shown: the cost of selling to you. When you quote online with Direct Windows, you’re dealing with the installer directly — here’s how it works, plainly.

The old way

How a traditional in-home window sale works

If you’ve ever booked a “free in-home consultation,” you already know the script.

  1. The visit

A salesperson comes to your home. You clear an evening, make coffee, and sit down at the kitchen table — because the industry decided long ago that the price lives in your living room, not on the website.

  2. The pitch

What was booked as a quick quote often runs two to three hours: the company story, the sample case, the demo, and — only at the very end — a number. Usually alongside a “special price” that expires when they leave.

  3. The commission

That salesperson works on commission — typically 10–20% of the job. It isn’t a separate line on your quote. It’s baked into the price of every window, and you pay it whether the pitch was pleasant or not.

The math

Two quotes for the same job

Strip the commission out and the rest of the job doesn’t change — the windows, the crew, the warranty. Only the total does.

To be clear about what we’re claiming: we don’t promise to beat every quote in Ontario, and we won’t invent a fake “regular price” to discount from. We’re claiming one specific thing — a cost most window quotes carry, ours doesn’t.

The replacement

What we built instead of a sales force

The sales visit had one real job: getting you a price. Our estimator does that part now — and the people behind it are the crew that installs.

  1. An online estimator

You describe your windows to our estimator — sizes, types, how many. Rough numbers are fine. It prices your project from a real supplier price list, the same way a person quoting your job would.

  2. Your price range, in the chat

Your honest price range appears right in the chat in minutes, and you can have it emailed as a written PDF estimate — yours to keep, compare, and sleep on. It doesn’t expire at midnight, and nobody follows it into your living room.

  3. An exact measure — only if you proceed

If the range works for you, a technician comes out for a free exact measure and you get a firm final price. That’s the only home visit in the whole process, and it only happens because you asked for it.

In writing

What we don’t do

Cutting the commission also cut the tactics that come with it. So you can hold us to it, here’s the list.

  • No fake discounts

We don’t inflate a “regular price” so a 40%-off sticker looks generous. You get our real price range, first time.

  • No today-only pricing

Your estimate doesn’t expire when a salesperson walks out the door — there is no salesperson, and no door. Take your time.

  • No pressure calls

If you don’t move forward, we don’t chase you. No call rotation, no “my manager approved something special” voicemails.

  • No in-home pitch, ever

The only person who visits your home is a measuring technician — after you’ve seen your price and decided to proceed.
